I have to talk about the status quo and how it is maintained through the education system?

I am bit confused still and was wondering if you could give me a brief explanation for some of my questions. What exactly is the status quo? What do they mean by it being maintained through the education system?

  1. the status quo is Latin, and means "the way things are now" someone who supports the status quo does not want changes. In the educational system, you are taught to be quiet, you are rewarded ( with As) for learning what they want you to learn - which is the way things are now. You learn about how our government works now, not how we might radically change the government.
  2. Status quo is the current position, state, or condition. Perhaps the level of education currently in our schools. How voting on Levis can determine fundings for schools (which is kind of absurd). Or I guess how the delegation of age and intelligence determines grade level. It is an interestingly vague question. If it were more direct I could probably help you more. Anyway, good luck.
  3. an observation i made when going to different schools in different neighbourhoods as a lecturer for the Humane Society... EVERY class had a trouble maker, usually just one who i could identify by the way he or she was treated. this observation, usually vehemently denied by teachers, has always concerned me. consider this...slow learner, trouble maker, teacher's pet etc. Is this maintaining a status quo above and beyond the material contained in books etc.
